In 1993, we made a unique move to put our values into action. Interaction Associates became the first firm of its kind to fund a nonprofit institute: the Interaction Institute for Social Change (IISC).
The mission of IISC is to work for social justice and sustainability.
IISC does this by building the capacity of people to collaborate for greater social impact by modeling, practicing, and teaching the skills and tools of collaboration. In all of their work, IISC views collaboration through these three lenses:
- Building power, pursuing equity, ensuring inclusion.
- The power of networks to leverage social change.
- Love as a force for social transformation.
Ten percent of Interaction Associates' annual profits are directed to IISC, and IA's employees each commit time every year to community work, including pro bono work for the Institute.
IISC’s work with organizations, communities, networks, and others demonstrates the power of bringing together key stakeholders at all levels of a system or issue, including those most impacted, to create a shared vision and strategies for concerted action to achieve that vision. And they are particularly committed to building the leadership and collaborative capacity of grassroots leaders to engage, speak out, and participate fully in determining the policies and decisions that affect their lives and their communities.
IISC works with a diverse array of clients. They include networks and coalitions, nonprofit organizations of all sizes, schools and school systems, public sector agencies, and foundations.
